  1. Antitrust and IP awareness

    a. This is a TECHNICAL committee. Please familiarize yourself with these antitrust and IP guidelines for IEEE meetings.

    b. Report the existence of any patent claims that might be essential to implementers of any proposed standards (Potentially Essential Patents):

          i. Speak up now, or
    ii. Report any essential patents of which you are personally aware to the Chair, or
    iii. Cause a Letter of Assurance to be submitted to the IEEE-SA

      • AIS Standards Workshop: Our second IEEE AIS Standards Workshop at SRI in Menlo Park, California will be 30-31 October. Please sign up and register soonest so we can get a head count to reserve the meeting room and to identify quantities of food for the meeting. Breakfast and lunch will be available in the meeting room on 30 October, and breakfast will be available on the 31st.
      • AIS Standards Workshop Paper Submissions: Reminder, the call for papers is at: easychair.org/cfp/AIS2. We have extended the abstract due date to Friday, 21 September and the paper submission deadline remains 12 October.
      • Human Computer Interaction International (HCII) Adaptive Instructional Systems Conference: If you are interested in a role on the conference board, as a session chair, or as a tutorial chair, please contact Bob Sottilare directly at aeturnabob@gmail.com. Note a correction: HCII pays $1500 (not $2500) for 1/2 day tutorial sessions.

      • New WG Vice-Chair Appointed: This note is to let you know that Eric Domeshek, Stottler-Henke, Inc., has agreed to become our Vice Chair. Eric brings a wealth of knowledge to this position and will be one of our leaders in our quest to develop AIS standards. Welcome aboard, Eric!
    • Preliminary Agenda for IEEE 2247 Workshop at SRI (30-31 October):
      • Abstract deadline extended until this Friday, 21 September, with notifications coming next Friday, 28 September.
      • Subject to adjustments based on discussions in our group telecons, we propose 1.5-hour sessions for both days.
        • Day 1 will begin at 8:30 a.m.–10:00 a.m., continuing at 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m., 1 p.m.–2:30 p.m., and 3 pm–4:30 p.m.
        • Day 2 will have a similar schedule, ending earlier, with sessions at 8:30 a.m.–10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m.
        This will frame one opening session, four discussion sessions, and one closing/wrap-up session.
