                    APPLICATIONS OF POWER ELECTRONICS IN RENEWABLES

The student branch of IEEE Power Electronics Society, Amrita School of Engineering (ASE), Bangalore, organized a talk on 28th March 2018 on “Application of Power Electronics in Renewables” .  The lecture was delivered by Dr. Anand.R , Assistant Professor (EEE department), with about 35 students in attendance.

The program started with a welcome speech by secretary of IEEE PELS ASE Bangalore about achievements of the speaker Dr. Anand. Further it was handed over to the speaker, who started the lecture by giving the audience a glimpse on power electronics and gave a brief talk on renewable sources. He also gave a statistic about how much amount of energy consumed worldwide and why we have to use renewables, path for energy conservation. He gave a brief introduction about solar panel development. He explained how to calculate power generated from solar panels (amount of power output, numbers of batteries used, number of panels placed). The main focus point of Dr. Anand throughout the talk was to improve the power generation by using renewables so that it will help the students to go further on this project.

The session was concluded with vote of thanks and felicitation of the speaker by Treasurer IEEE PELS SBC of Amrita. It was interactive and true learning experience for the students and it will help the students with their projects.
