The 23rd and 24th February of 2019 witnessed the inception of one of the greatest technical extravaganzas, Excelsior come to life. Attended by over 200 dynamic techno enthusiasts, the event marked a technological tinkerer’s opportune moment to be a part of the integration of information, inspiration, and collaboration. This technical festivity sought to provide latitude for networking with young bright minds and illicit techno enthusiasm by transporting them to a world of technophilia, technovation and techtainment.

Catering to inquisitive minds, the first day was a culmination of several interactive keynotes by some of the best minds in technology as well as workshops based on peer learning model developed by Tinkerhub. Workshop topics were pertaining to Hardware Programming, Web development using Python, Machine Learning
and Data Analytics. The day ended with an ice breaking session that facilitated the attendees to interact with one another. It was a warm and zealous ending to a much engaging day indeed.

The second day kicked off with a session by Dr.Lalithambika of ISRO, the scientist extraordinaire heading India’s first human space flight mission. She talked about various aspects that her work entails as well as welcomed questions from the audience regarding the different projects she undertook. This was followed by talks from several accomplished professionals such as Mr. Santhosh Thottingal, a senior software engineer at Wikipedia Foundation whose thorough hands-on experience and solution driven coding skills in all levels of testing, including performance, functional integration, system, and user acceptance testing produced some of the best digital typeface interfaces and language tools. Parallely, a zest driven conference panel consisting of IEEE Young Professionals was held which led to discussions on pioneering technological empowerment and relevance of IEEE with regards to this.

Throughout the whole program, there was an air of vibrancy. Every surrounding face portrayed the same emotion, one that of intrigue. Each and every recount painted a picture of a united technical community that seeks to promote their very motto- The joy of volunteering. The end of Excelsior marked the ignition of cutting edge creativity and passion.

Being the first of many more IEEE fests to be hosted at GEC Palakkad, Excelsior ’19 envisioned to break barriers of expectations and set a glorious bar for its successive events. This platform provided exhilarating opportunities for creating building blocks of a lifelong and diverse professional network.
