The IEEE EMB MSRIT student chapter organised an industrial visit to the Philips innovation campus on 29th June 2017.

The commencement of the visit took place by an introduction to Philips by Mr. AshutoshKinikar. He explained about the journey of Philips in building the health care technology in India. He also explained about the footprint of Philips in India and its health care systems.

The next session was an interaction with Dr.RaviRamaswamy. He enlightened the us with various types of innovations on healthcare, their relevance, complexity, affordability, how they help us in solving problems, understanding of the machines, building and interfacing them.

Further, we were headed to the MR Lab. We learnt about MRI scanners, their purpose, the principle and mechanism involved, practical usage and applications.

Later the entire student batch had an interactive session with the biomedical engineers working at Philips. The students acquired a very good understanding and knowledge about the different aspects involved in bio designing like mobile obstetrics monitoring, smart shaver, baby monitoring append the brushing app.

The session was very helpful in improving the sense of understanding about the current technology and how to put them for good use, to solve problems using real time applications and to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical learning.
