Internet of Things: The 4th industrial revolution

Abstract

Internet of Things, IoT, is a new paradigm in the area of information and communication technology, ICT. It is a network which is built using pervasive devices (sensors, actuators, computers, phones, embedded systems, cars, and so forth).   IoT is the enabling technology for a number of platforms and concepts (smart-city, intelligent transportation system, ambient intelligence, and so forth).

The aim of this presentation is to describe the technologies that driving the developments of IoT, some societal applications of IoT, finally, the presentation will conclude with the description of the IEEE initiatives in Internet of Things and smart-city.
