Report

WORKSHOP ON “MATLAB and Applications” BY IEEE-RCOEM Student Branch Very soon after the first meeting of IEEE-RCOEM Student Branch on 2nd of February, the first workshop on most in-demand subject MATLAB was conducted on 7th-8th of February for the students to impart knowledge about MATLAB at the industrial level. Conducted by: Mr.Archit Somani [CEO Strawberry Enterprises & Alumni RCOEM] is a professional in this field, with immense knowledge & huge experience.

Topics covered:

  • Basics of MATLAB in far depth.
  • How to overcome usual & typical errors in programming.
  • Hardware/software interconnection using MATLAB & Simulink.
  • Applications of these concepts in developing GUIs.
  • Demos of different GUIs & utility GUI was explained.
  • Finally, the power of MATLAB was explained using real-life highly complex applications of MATLAB, such as in ‘Aviation Simulation Software’.

Outcome of workshop:

  • Even a student without any basic knowledge about MATLAB was acquainted & made comfortable with it, by the end of the workshop.
  • Participants got to know a lot about current industrial scenario!
  • Instead of using different apps, this time they got to build one.
  • Along with that, they got to experience industrial level coding & also dos & don’ts of it.
  • In the end, everyone was confident enough, that he/she can make any desired program or app or GUI.

Efforts: Complete Organising Committee & all the Teacher co-ordinators tried their best to conduct this event successfully in a very short duration of time. This event was attended not only by students but also by the staff. All found it a learning experience and also wanted that the workshop should have been of longer duration.

REVIEWS :

• Samir Ghui [EC 2nd Yr]
The workshop was very helpful. Sir taught right from the basics and what he taught was completely understood. But the duration of the workshop should have been 3 to 4 days.

• Shivani Jha [EDT 2nd Yr]
MATLAB workshop was a very cognitive workshop. It gave all students an insight into what all tasks it can perform along with the minimal number of lines of code. We got to know that number of useful functions can be explored and be used easily in MATLAB.

• Ms. Jaypreet Keer [M.tech 2nd Yr]
This workshop provided a complete outlook of MATLAB. Starting with the ABC’s of MATLAB, programming and industrial projects were also taken off. The speaker being alumni of the college, had a personal touch in the teaching process. Also, this workshop made many of us to take up our projects in MATLAB & explore the avenues in it.
