2. Webinar: Embedding Intelligence in IoT Edge

A webinar on “Embedding Intelligence in IoT Edge” on the 26th of March 2018 between 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM attended by M. Tech (VLSI Design) students. The webinar was organized by the team of IEEE Blended Learning program. This talk is intended to provide an overview of concepts on the internet of Things (IoT), which would foster the development and deployment to manage smart sensors and develop infrastructure. Presenter: Dr. Jayakumar  Singaram, is a founding member of Rinanu Technology, Epigon Media Technologies, PiiTech Systems and GPTL. Dr. Jayakumar is also an alumnus of IIT Bombay and has been on the forefront of the emerging trends in embedded systems and IOT, having worked with organizations like HAL (Helicopter Design Bureau), Cranes InfoTech, Mistral Solutions and Essel Utilities and some significant others over a career spanning across two decades.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Exploring Electromagnetics with MATLAB and QuickField

A workshop on “Exploring Electromagnetics with MATLAB and QuickField” during 15-17 March 2018 for second-year students of Electronics Engineering and EDT department was organized.

The session was conducted by Prof. A. Maheswari and Prof. V. Gupta of Department of Electronics Engineering, RCOEM.

4. Computer Vision Techniques on Raspberry Pi Platform using Python

A Workshop on “Computer Vision Techniques on Raspberry Pi Platform using Python” was organized and conducted by IEEE Student Branch, RCOEM, Nagpur for 6th-semester students of Electronics Engineering department by Prof. Manisha Das on 29-30 Jan 2018 and 19-21 Mar 2018. Total of 32 students participated in the workshop. Prof. Manisha Das, Assistant professor, Computer Application Department, RCOEM, Nagpur, discussed the basics of Raspberry Pi platform, on board peripheries and methods of OS installation.

The hands-on session was also conducted on Raspi platform giving the participants the knowledge of interfacing sensors, camera module, webcam and other peripheral devices. Introduction and the hands-on session of python programming language were conducted by Prof. Aparna Gujjar, Assistant professor, Computer Application Department, RCOEM, Nagpur, which covered language basics, syntax, language structures, graphics designing using python, OpenCV module, sample demonstrations of the python script. The students were significantly benefited by the workshop which is evident from the feedback from them.
