Welcome to the University of Manchester IEEE Student Branch


This student branch officially started in May 2003 as UMIST IEEE Student Branch. Since UMIST and Victoria University of Manchester formed The University of Manchester in October 2004, the Student Branch renamed as “The University of Manchester IEEE Student Branch”.

The branch is located in the Electromagnetics Centre in the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The Electromagnetics Centre for Microwave and Millimetre-wave Design and Applications has been made possible by a Joint Infrastructure (JIF) Award of £1.9M by the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Office of Science and Technology (OST). It builds upon the international reputation of the Microwave Engineering Research and it provides opportunities to extend existing research programme and establish new ones.

The branch comprises of ED/MTT joint technical chapters which provides links to valuable resources from IEEE Electron Devices (ED) society and Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) society.
