Bringing True Medical-grade Data to your Fingertips through a Next Generation Wearable

March 27, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

This event is co-sponsored by IEEE SFBA MEMS & Sensors SCV Chapter and IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology SCV Chapter
Title: Bringing True Medical-grade Data to your Fingertips through a Next Generation Wearable
Abstract: Profusa is pioneering sensors that continually and wirelessly report health status to a mobile device from within our body.  Profusa’s novel sensors are based on fluorescent, soft, biomaterials that integrate with tissues permanently for long-term biomonitoring. After a 2016 regulatory approval in Europe, the company is accelerating commercialization activities while at the same time expanding the pipeline of products with additional sensing capabilities. This talk will share some of our experience in bringing pioneering medical sensor technology to market .

Speaker Bio: Kevin Zhao leads the cloud and software engineering efforts at Profusa.  After completing his masters in biomedical engineering at Duke University and a stint in systems engineering at Roche, Kevin found his passion in a innovative start-up environment at Profusa.  A self-taught programmer, Kevin has combined his background in biomedical engineering with his interests in the tech sector. Some of his major highlights at Profusa include creating Profusa’s first live wireless demo at CES, leading the software developments for Profusa’s first approved product, creating Profusa’s R&D and preclinical software, and building a scalable data infrastructure to support both hospital and home use.
