We live in an exciting time when we can witness and participate in a transformation of our energy system. The cost of solar electricity has dropped and the world’s ability to deploy renewable electricity plants has increased, providing an opportunity for the transition to lead to lower overall cost and clean energy within our lifetimes. Making the transition requires doing 3 things at the same time:
- Conversion to renewable electricity,
- Electrification of most everything, and
- Creation of a flexible grid by implementing storage or shifting demand.
Fortunately, implementing each of these three makes the others easier.
