Abstract:ย What is Kubernetes and why does it matter? Kubernetes is a platform that is becoming a standard for running cloud native applications. In this talk we will talk about the architecture of Kubernetes and the new use cases containers and the Kubernetes platform have enabled. We will also cover how the architecture is evolving to cover those use cases and address newer needs such as serverless computing and machine learning.

Aparna Sinha leads the product team for Google Kubernetes Engine. She started and co-leads the Kubernetes community PM Special Interest Group (SIG), which maintains the open source roadmap. She is a member of the CNCF Governing Board. Prior to Google, Aparna has worked in enterprise software for 15+ years. She was Director of Product Management at NetApp where she led development of storage plugins for Oracle, VMware, Unix and Windows. Aparna holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford and has several technical publications from her research and a patent at Google on Android IoT protocols.
