Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Wednesday, 28 August 2019, 6:30pm – 8:30pm, Singapore Polytechnic

IEEE Singapore Computer Society presents you a technical event co-organized by IEEE Singapore Computer Society and Singapore Polytechnic.

Executive Summary & Outline:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the world in dramatic and beneficial ways, and Machine Learning (ML) is powering the progress. The forecasted market value for Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning is more than 23 Billion dollars by 2023! There are many job titles that have been created around this technology such as Artificial Intelligence Engineer and Machine Learning Engineer.

This talk focuses on the basics of AI & ML. Potential industrial applications and solutions that can incorporate AI & ML technologies will be discussed in this talk. A simple classification problem will be presented where the Linear Regression model will be elaborated. This would be helpful for those very new to Machine Learning. The concept of Deep Learning will be explained and the basic tools needed to develop Deep Learning will be introduced. The tools that will be introduced are Jupyter Notebook, TensorFlow, and Keras. Examples of Convolutional Neural Networks and Recurrent Neural Networks will be provided.

Speaker Profile:

Asadollah Norouzi

Asadollah Norouzi is a Lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic, School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. He holds an MSc in Computer Science from the Chalmers University of Technology. Asad has more than 10 years of experience in the field of Intelligent Robotics and has been focusing a lot on Deep Learning during the past 4 years. Asad has been leading SP’s robotics team participating in the RoboCup@Work league of the RoboCup annual competitions since 2015. This league is an industrial benchmarking of autonomous mobile robots operating in an industry-like environment. He has been a member of IEEE Singapore Computer Chapter EXCO since 2015. Asad’s research interests include artificial intelligence, Deep Learning, autonomous robots, autonomous navigation, and machine vision.
