Abstract:

IEEE will hold a panel session of selected officers, organizers and speakers from the third annual IEEE Sustainability Technology Conference (SusTech 2015) at the Salt Lake City Library. This panel will discuss topics related to sustainability in a spirit that outlines the unique “engineers perspective”, an empirical approach often not described in the press. Discussion will spring from selected paragraphs from the Pope’s recent wide ranging encyclical on climate change.
For those people attending the full SusTech 2015 conference, the Thursday evening opening reception at Weber State University we have opening comments by Utah dignitaries, one of whom will be a scientist from our Utah Catholic community commenting on the Pope’s encyclical. Representatives of the Governor’s Office and Weber State University will be making welcoming addresses.

SusTech will also host a student poster contest on Thursday afternoon at Weber State University to be judged by the Utah Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Winning posters will be displayed at the Library.
