On the occasion of Tunisian women’s day: August 13, 2015. Boudour AMMAR chair of WIE Tunisia Affinity Group and Nouha Dziri chair of WIE Affinity group Student Branch ENIS were honored to be the guest with two powerful and successful Tunisian women at Sfax’s radio. Hayat Omri is a researcher in the field of organic chemistry. She holds a PhD in Applied Chemistry. In 2013 she won the gold medal of the Olympiads of young inventors and in 2015 she was elected as Honorary President of the French Federation of inventors. Mariem Ezzehi is a pilot and she conducted a plane and traveled with 100 women in order to celebrate the day of women.
Boudour Ammar and Nouha DZIRI had the occasion to promote IEEE WIE membership and talk about the benefits of joining the powerful community of IEEE women in engineering.
They also mentioned that IEEE WIE gives the opportunity to create communities that fuel innovation, facilitate knowledge sharing and provide support through highly interactive sessions designed to foster discussion and collaboration and most importantly that IEEE WIE advocate women in leadership roles in IEEE governance and career advancement for women in the profession.

The IEEE R8 WIE coordiantor, Simay Akar, organized an online meeting on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, 8:30 pm  |  Eastern Europe Summer Time.

 

The IEEE WIE Tunisia AG officers attended this meeting to connect with other WIE officers from Region 8. It was a good opportunity to exchange ideas and plan future events toghether.


July 10th, 2015

The 17th edition of Univ-Expo ofSfaxwas held from 07 till 9 July, 2015 in the space of Sfax International Fair. It was organized by the University of Sfax.It consisted of the participation of about tens of universities, public research centers and institutions and private institutions.This event is an opportunity to discover areas related to technology transfer, entrepreneurship, presentation of scientific equipment and academic clubs.

The exhibition included several booths dedicated to important graduation projects, scientists, laboratories and research units. The projects of cooperation with foreign institutions were exposed as well. At this event, a policy space has been in favor of new students to advise and direct their choices towards specialties with high employability.

As usual, IEEE ENIS Student Branch participated to this event by preparing a booth there. The booth contained brochures, magazines and posters to advertisethe services given by IEEE. IEEE members encouraged the fair visitors not only to join the IEEE community but also to be an active member in one or more of IEEE societies such as RAS.

The presence of Women was highly noticeable.They come to the fair either as visitors or exhibitors. Tens of female engineers visited the fair in order to ensure the main role played by women in the research, technological and social life.


March 25th, 2015

In its first 2015 edition, WIMTA was organized in Omar-El-Khayem hotel, Hammamet-Tunisia during March 16-19, 2015. Tens of male and female engineers assisted to the event. Many presentations about artificial intelligence were held during the workshop. There were poster sessions between the presentations.

 

A talk about IEEE was elaborated. It included a presentation of IEEE, its different services, societies and grants, etc. This talk encouraged many people from the audience to be not only an IEEE member but also to subscribe themselves in other diverse societies. Within this presentation, a meeting between female engineers took place. It was an opportunity of knowledge exchange and experiences sharing between women from different disciplines and ages.

The workshop was winded up by a training session about how to provide good communication skills while doing a scientific presentation. At the end,those who have the best selected posters were crowned by getting awards from the organizing committee.

TSBC is a national event supported by IEEE where more than200 young engineering students and young professionals from all engineering schools in Tunisia meet together to discuss present and future engineering challenges, network and learn more about the IEEE.

In its 2014 edition, the TSBC was organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the National Engineering School of Sfax (ENIS) in partnership with the IEEE WIE Tunisia AG, on December 22-23, 2014 in Sousse – Tunisia.

The purpose of this event is to help students gain further insight, enabling exchange of knowledge and skills. The plenary sessions and workshops in this congress will not only put their focus on research and technological developments, but also career issues and the importance of developing the so-called soft skills.

The program included technical activities as well as professional and educational activities presented by international and well known speakers. An IEEE WIE Workshop was presented by Simay Akar, MGA (Global) Women in Engineering Committee Member.
In this workshop Women in Engineering Affinity Group benefits were discussed. Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas in interactive discussion groups and focus on new projects regarding WIE interest areas.

In its 6th edition, the SOCPAR conference was organized by MIR-Labs (Machine Intelligence Research Labs, University of Sfax) and the REGIM-Lab (Research Groups on Intelligent Machines, University of Sfax). It was sponsored by the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, the IEEE Tunisian chapters of IEEE WIE and SMC Societies.

It aims to bring together worldwide leading researchers and practitioners interested in advancing the state of the art in Soft Computing and Pattern Recognition. It provides knowledge exchange the fact that encompasses a broad range of disciplines among various distinct communities. It was held on August 11-14, 2014 in Ramada Plaza Tunis Hotel, Tunisia.
