Description
Part of a series of tech talks hosted or co-hosted by IEEE Utah Section. This talk will be given by Dr. Eric Bogatin. An abstract of Dr. Bogatin’s talk:

There are two ways of looking at many signal integrity problems, a “circuits” view and an “electromagnetics” view. While many problems can be answered quite well using circuit theory, there are a few special cases where circuit models break down and you need electromagnetic models to quickly get to the right answer. We will briefly review the power of circuit models with currents and voltages to describe interconnects, and then look at three specific cases where this great model breaks down and how electromagnetics can come to the rescue.
