What does vTools abbreviation stand for?
vTools abbreviation stands for “Volunteer Tools”. vTools simplify the administrative tasks to our volunteers via use of online tools, reduce time spent managing activities, and assist in member development.

What vTools are available?
vTools is an active project and its tools are in various phases of development. Please visit “Products” page for details on the software in the vTools toolbox.

Who can use vTools?
While most of the vTools allow public access to view data, typically only IEEE volunteers can create and modify data available for public access.

Are vTools free?

Who can access vTools?

The current security model automatically allows use of the tools by any volunteer who appears on the section roster.  Volunteers can create meetings, WebInABox sites, run elections, etc., while members and in many cases general public can view meeting information, visit WebInABox sites, etc.

Volunteers should use their IEEE web account username and password to login. If you do not recall your Web Account information, you may go to: http://www.ieee.org/web/accounts to recover your username or password online.

To verify who is listed on the section roster please see this page: http://www.ieee.org/rosters (access is limited to current officers). Please note that per vTools team request, IEEE now records more positions for Chapter and Affinity Group officers: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer. New officers can be reported here:http://www.ieee.org/societies_communities/geo_activities/required_reporting/officer_forms.html Please note that according to IEEE Bylaws (http://www.ieee.org/documents/section09_24jul09.pdf section 9.6 part D) all officers (with exception of webmaster and newsletter editor) shall be IEEE members in Graduate Student Member, Member, Senior Member or Fellow grade. Chapter officers shall also be members of the parent Society.

In addition Sections can now report vTools coordinator position (please note that it has the same grade restrictions as mentioned above).

Please note that anyone with a valid IEEE web account can submit and view L31 reports as well as Student Branch reports.
