Kathleen Murphy is a senior manager of mission-critical enterprise technology services at the University at Buffalo where she has been employed for over twenty years. Murphy provides oversight of CIT Network and Classroom Services project portfolio and new initiatives. She has directed complex technology upgrades and led the development and adoption of new network services. She was also responsible for divisional IT professional development. Murphy is proud of her contributions to national and institutional agendas. Murphy served as a co-chair of the 2002 National ResNet Symposium and has presented at regional EDUCAUSE conferences. While at the University at Buffalo, Murphy co-founded the UB Women in STEM Cooperative, a coalition of women volunteers who are dedicated to advancing women in STEM. She organized a popular campus “Sit With Me” event in 2014 as well as the 1st annual UB Women in STEM Summit in 2015. She was also the architect behind the “5050 by 2050” tweetathon. Murphy’s interest in empowering women is also evident by her former appointment to the Erie County Commission on the Status of Women and her active involvement in local women’s groups including the Junior League of Buffalo, AAUW Buffalo Branch, and the WNY Women’s Foundation. Murphy graduated with advanced degrees in Business and Higher Education Administration from the University at Buffalo after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Microelectronic Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Murphy resides in Lancaster, NY with her husband, Jeff, and their two children.
