Abstract

Vahid Garousi, Frank Maurer, Shelly Park and Christian Wiederseiner, Ayse Bener and Ayse Tosun are part of a team of software engineering researchers from Canada and Turkey and are conducting an online survey of software testing practices.

The results of this survey will enable the researchers in predicting trends in software testing and software quality assurance. They will also get insight on what types of test techniques and tools are used by software companies and how they are planned and carried out. They are looking for survey participants who are software testing practitioners.

They survey has 32 questions (mostly multiple-choice) and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete.

This project is a continuation of two similar surveys conducted in 2004 and 2009 (focusing only on the Canadian province of Alberta). If you are interested, you can see the results of those two surveys in the following articles:

http://softqual.ucalgary.ca/projects/2009/software_testing_practices_in_AB/STPA_2004.pdf

The survey is completely anonymous, and no personal nor company-related information will be recorded. Ethics approval for the study has been granted by the University of Calgary. After collecting the data and analyzing them, we will publicly release and publish the results as research articles.

The online survey is located at:

Please forward this to your network of developers, testers and managers, which would help us to target a broader audience and thus helping in gathering more data for our statistical analysis.
