Title:

An insight into IEC 61850 protocol implementation with ERLPhase new generation devices

Date:

Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 12:00 noon.

Location:

Holiday Inn South, 1330 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg

Speaker:

Dr. Krish Narendra, PhD

Abstract:

Many publications and free online tutorials are available on IEC 61850 standard protocol, but a very few implementation details have been published. This presentation’s intention is to share the implementation details of the IEC 61850 protocol (both station bus 8-1, and process bus 9-2) with ERLPhase new generation Relays and Recording systems. The outline of presentation covers brief introduction to the 61850 standards, logical node descriptions, GOOSE and Sampled Value publishing and subscriptions. An update on the work that is being done to transmit the Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) data using 61850 protocol will also be discussed.
